Bergün lies at the foot of Piz Ela, the mountain that gives its name to the Parc Ela nature park. It marks the start of the Albula Pass; the most beautiful summer Alpine crossing into the Engadin region. The winter season allows visitors to enjoy the Preda-Bergün and Darlux-Bergün sledging runs. The skiing area of Darlux offer some 20 km of beautifully maintained slopes.

It is an attractive residential location with good infrastructure. Bergün has various shopping possibilities, banks, medical facilities, its own local authority, churches and a nursery and primary school.

The Bergün local-authority area includes the village of Bergün itself and also Preda, Stuls and Latsch. 

The Albula and Bernina railway lines have been on the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites since 2008. The site includes the landscape between Thusis and Tirano, along with the Albula and Bernina passes.

Bergün is easily reached with the Rhaetian Railway or by car. When it comes to activities outside Bergün, the village is just 30 minutes away from the Upper Engadin or Lenzerheide and 40 minutes from Davos.
